llGetRegionCorner vs llRequestSimulatorData

Barring the obvious differences (llRequestSimulatorData being able to check data on a different region than the script's location), is there any situation where results of the following would be different?

llGetRegionCorner()

vs.

llRequestSimulatorData(llGetRegionName(), DATA_SIM_POS) + dataserver event

speed? region corner is gonna be a whole heck of alot faster.

size? again, region corner wins.
