How Do I get a linked objects textures?

I need to get the textures off of my linked objects.
I can do this the hard way by doing a linkmessage
causing llgetTextures to run and then send the texture strings
back via a channel like /10
However, this seems awfully complicated, is there a simpler way?
Specifically, can I do it without running a script on the linked
object?
Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is no other way than using a script in the child prims and linked messages. What you would need is llGetLinkPrimitiveParams().

Alas... There is a big stupid religious war around this wannabe instruction. Some argue that it would ease piracy while others argue that pirates can already do what this instruction could do. And, so far, LL prefer to have honnest scripters jump through hoops even if it does nothing for or against piracy.

.... yah i know... some people DO know how to do this. But alas... this person should be old enough to know how. I do.

An besides... sound fishy to me, but that's JUST me.

Also, Why do you need to take them OFF of YOUR prims... cant you not edit linked parts and change the textures? or did you DELETE them and cannot find them again, OR, is this an alt that you are using and need to get them off of something that you do NOT own and did NOT create. Seems to me, that no ONE should be abel to do this, but, again, thats JUST me. (Once made, forever protected!)

llGetTexture was nerfed a long time ago, it wouldn't be a great way to get textures you're not supposed to play with anyway. Haven't tried, but llGetPrimitiveParams is surely nerfed the same way?

Linkmessages don't use channels.

Thanks for the help, I suspected when I did not see llGetLinkedTextures that this was
the case.

For those that think it is fishy, I just want to know what the texture is
on each face of a linked prim, not take it off, just know what it is. This does not seem
that dangerous to me, but I am new so perhaps hackers can exploit it I don't know.
thanks again.

All of the big hoohaa is over the fact that once you have the uuid, you have the whole texture to do with as you please.
(I don't support big hoohaa's, just wanted to explain it:))
