I know that you used to be able to stream your webcam with veodia.com but that has been disabled. Does anyone else know a way to stream your webcam into secondlife???

Contact a producer or member of TweetTv/SLCN, I bet they could help you out. I know they stream video from avatar to a video stream that is live. Might want to ask them.

Your Google link does not have information on an application that a client can run on Windows which will convert the video stream to H.263 format over the real time streaming protocol and unicast to a server or relay provider that is reliable that can also convert the feed in to the required format if the client software cannot and that doesn't cost $500.

I am not sure if that is an attempt at humor, your lack of understanding the issue or you being a troll.

Void? Trolling? Apparently you're new here.

And rude. If the information isn't what you want, ignore it. FYI, Void has more experience than most of us in this forum.

At the risk of being sucked in by the trolling which your post obviously reeks of, isn't your reply to this thread a bit hypocritical? Should you not just ignore it as well or did you feel compelled to share your opinion for some reason that is not apparent? Pot meet kettle. Oh and the cliche of pointing out when this account was created and calling me new... tired and busted.

I fail to see how a link to a generic Google search term is helpful one iota or demonstrates any credible measure of experience other than boosting the metric of an increased thread count. Quantity does equal quality. The lack of documentation on this topic is sparse and outdated at best as evidence by the OP and third resident in this same thread looking for assistance as well. I will happily take your advice from this point forward though so as not to pollute the thread should someone helpful actually contribute.

you didn't specify that you required any special format, further, the VERY FIRST link on google search provides a service with which to host live cam feeds so as not to flood your own connection.

several of the first page links do the same, some even have detailed instructions on various free software to use instead of whatever comes on the setup disk with your particular webcam.

my point is and was that there are tons of places that do this for free, and a large majority are platform independent. I don't use any of them so I can't make if a specific recommendation.

the next time, if you have specific requirements you might want to state them since I haven't managed to get the readPostersMind function working on my machine. until then my understanding of what you mean can only come from what you actually post.

as for being humor or an attempt at trolling... feh, not gonna waste my breath.

ETA:
a post can only be as "helpful" as the problem presented... either you were too lazy to be specific, or too lazy to do said search yourself. either way garbage in, garbage out.

Ruggar, do you really want help with scripting? Or do you want to start your (adult) business a.s.a.p? I didn't find from you any scripting questions in any forum. An apology would suit you.

Your original post said absolutely NOTHING in terms of what you needed, despite this Void tries to help you, yet you feel the need to offend one of the most experienced and helpful people on this forum I have ever met, who helped me time and again in understanding scripts. You do not deserve such help, man, not with the attitude you have. This is not a find-a-free-coder zone, its a place where fellow scripters help each other! IDI*T!

Hey, thanks for the headsup, Johan - we have to avoid the Void I guess, now that we know Void's trolling! We should all thank Ruggar for pointing this out to us.... not. Btw, I am enjoying trying out Blender again myself, after discovering Primstar :) It rocks!

@Void, a personal thanks from Dumisani Ah and me for many years of faithful assistance, either directly to me during difficult LSL sessions or just by submitting so much from which we could learn! Ignore the obvious idiots, who hopefully will either learn from shooting off without first checking, or disappear altogether ;)

Void, the OP presented a question about streaming video in to Second Life. The limitations/requirements of streaming video in to SL should have been implied as per the whole point of the first thread. I followed up with a question about supported Windows software to accomplish the same thing. This is a threaded discussion.

If you are unclear about the topic or unfamiliar with the limitations/requirements of what is trying to be accomplished you should not contribute. Treating each post individually as you did without reading the thread is what caused my displeasure. If you truly were trying to help I appreciate it. But your response does not deal with specifics of streaming video in to Second Life which again was the whole goal of the OP.

To be honest, I am not sure why this was allowed to exist in the scripting forum anyway. But not being the OP and looking for a similar but Windows based solution I replied.
