I have a very newbie question...

Is there a way for a script to determine the owner's location?
Do you need a scanner for that? Does this count as self-stalking?

Yes, you can either use an attachment or a sensor. If you needed to know where the owner was at all times, you could use an attachment that emailed an object in another sim.
