Is there a way to 'color' a portion of Linden water that has been enclosed in a build ? i.e. a pool of blood ?

Create a 0.01 thin "sheet" at exactly height of the waterline, make it "phantom", texture it with Blank Texture (or a water texture), choose your shade of blood-red for the color, and then set transparency to something around 60-70% so you can see the original ripples beneath it.
I think that will get the effect you're looking for...

Thanks for the reply Ace. This is the method I was trying with a smooth anim script. The problem is the area will require about 4 of these prims and I am having seam issues. BTW thanks also for the Iraq Memorial. It is wonderful and means alot to me as I was there for the war.

If your having seam issues, make sure you set the 5 sides of the cube that you're *not* interested in to 100% transparent.
