Really new at lsl, but would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction! I have a slide and I want to make it so that when you sit on it you slide down. In general, how would I go about doing that? I've scripted a few things, but the documentation seems kind of sparse.

Thanks!

There used to be a slide at the old Four Seasons park. As I recall, that just rezzed a mat, which was a physical object that you sat down on, and then gave it a push to make it slide along the slide via the physics engine.

You could probably do a similar thing - instead of having the AV sit on the slide, have them touch something and give animation permission, put them into a "sliding down slide" animation, and then give them a push :) .

I believe the only way to make the sliding animation really smooth while the AV was sitting on the slide would be to do the whole thing as a animation, including the movement of the avatar down the slide (by using the hip offset)..

Thanks! So if I have a mat, sit on it, and give it a push, is it going to follow the contours of the slide by itself? Even along curves?

That would usually be the case. You could also make it time to give boosts at corners, as it may run out of energy, or just put slopes in.

That sounds neat! If you work it out please let us know!

Right now I'm messing with Buoyancy. You can set anything under 2m3 to have little or lots of gravity, even sit on it at the time! Maybe set the mat to something light?
