Can a Script Sit an Avitar?

I have looked all through this forum and the Script Library and even googled for it. But I can't find an example in which a script mimics the function of an Avatar choosing an object containing a sit script and then sitting down. Maybe I saw it and didn't know it. Its ok if my Avatar has to collide with the object first. But what I was hoping for was a way to select it based on its uuid. Any hints?

The mentioned auto sitter was what I had in mind. A prim worn by an Avatar which contains the script and would have any necessary permissions. It would only affect the wearer.

I have seen auto sitters in action which is what prompted me to figure out how it was done.

Maybe what they are doing is to detect the status of things in SL then communicate the results to a custom client.

Nope, sorry - no way around the avatar clicking the object.

If you think about it, it makes sense from a security/griefing standpoint. Since sitting on an object implies permission for certain scripted functions (animate, take controls, etc.) and sat-upon objects can go flying off someplace and take the avatar with them, it would be unwise of LL to remove the avatar's choice of sitting in the first place.

but aren't there autositters out there? I know one store that maintains camping benches and on their wall they forbid the use of autositters and will kick and ban anyone who uses them...I would too however, but perhaps you have to sit at least once? I dunno.

There are. They don't use LSL to do the sitting, it's a custom client thing.
