Hey, im trying to build an ipod type gadget that plays music wherever you are. Looking at the forums, ive found that this is only really possible if you play 9.9 second sound clips seamlessly in a loop... does anybody have a script that does that? thanks!

This is just a random one from the forums, there are tons of them floating around here.

The only problem is that the 9.9 seconds has to be completely downloaded to the lient before it will begin, it wont download while playing. So the best way to get a seamless sound is to preload all the sounds before hand. The only problem with that being that no one really wants to wait arund and let the client download the clips before hand. Sorry I couldnt be more help. Good luck.

Uploading the sounds at lowest quality is a big help. Don't even bother trying for seamless at the upper two Bps settings, far far too slow.

And, best of all llPreloadSound() is only a "suggestion" to the client and there is no way to programmatically know whether that clip was ever loaded. Last time I tested (which was way long ago) llSetSoundQueuing(TRUE) was a no-op. In short, if you can't fit it in 9.9 seconds, SL will not be nice to your sound.

Water splashes, crashes, animal sounds, mostly work (at least once the sound is actually loaded on the client) but narratives, music, etc. are nearly impossible to get right and even if it works for you and 5 testers, the 6th player may not have the same experience. Que sera.
