Does anyone know how to create a script that will detect a spy bot, and the name of it? From what I hear, they can shoot beams at avatars many hundreds of meters. Would like your help with this, as there are too many scirpts on my island, belong to owners/renters, to identiyf properly. Thank you. Willing to pay for one.

s/ Cal Alexander You will need to be a bit more specific I am afraid. Yes it is possible to write a script to detect a specifc object using llSensor. However you are limited to a maximum of 16 sensor returns so unless you specifically know its name or key you are pretty much stuffed before you start. A sensor also only has a maximum range of 96m although you can get returns from far greater distances sometimes. Anyoen of the scripts that where developed during the copybot/spambot fiasco would cover the basic's of what you need. CAVEAT EMPTOR - You will need to modify it and configure it correctly to make it work for you.

Thank you very much. But the problem is that these spy bots change names, and self destruct, almost as if, there is no defense against them. Thanks again.

Thats the same conclusion we made about copybot and why the whole spambot idea was doomed from the start. Your best bet is if you catch one find its creator and IM them asking them to stop. If that doesnt work try AR'ing them, however it would depend on exactly why you think they are spying and what on.

billions of channels, and dozens of ways to script a spy object. It's nearly imposable to detect a listener/scanner..one could put out a tracker that listens to 60 channels at once, but since there are several billion channels to choose from, that would only catch a newby =-/

A small clarification to what Newgate said..
Find it's OWNER. The creator may be a professional weapons/security system's developer. While it's possible (and occassionally likely) that the person using a script like this against you, may well be it's creator... systems like this can be given to friends, or sold.

Oops, yes I meant owner, thanks Winter.
