The AOs that work in no script areas take some movement controls (obtain PERMISSION_TAKE_CONTROLS and do the llTakeControls thing), and scripts using that get the special status to keep running. Other scripts in the same prim also get a free ride.
All that's necessary is to go through the take controls motions, a script doesn't actually have to do anything with them to get this benefit. _____________________

So, honestly, what's the point of no script areas if it's possible to defeat?

Just about any script I write to wear has that code in it. And, yeah, is there any real point to no-scripts areas anymore? The only thing I lose in a no-scripts area is proper use of my Chimera. Beyond that, everything else works fine. (^_^)y

I'm hoping once LL eventually get around to introducing a better script resource management system we won't really need no-script zones so much. It's a very annoying thing to have happen, especially when it isn't obvious at all for regular users that the area they are in is no-script.
I have however integrated the hack mentioned to some of my worn products, not so they can continue to function, but so they can warn the user they are now in a no-script area. _____________________

So, honestly, what's the point of no script areas if it's possible to defeat? ... Mostly to defeat people who try to use common weapons in newcomer welcome areas. And to defeat scripted followers and stuff that work against other avatars. Scripted AOs and things that work on our own avatars are exempt (if scripted correctly)and should always be, no matter where we are, I think. |

Scripted followers are much easier to defeat by making the land no-rez no-object-entry. (^_^)y _____________________

If a script has taken controls, it will not be stopped if the Agent enters a No-Script Area. This is done to keep vehicle control alive and AOs functional. This is an intentional feature. These scripts will stop working if they call certain blacklisted functions. |

Unfortunately, scripts are also required to turn OFF particles, lights and sounds... so sometimes you do want things like jetpacks to be able to work in noscript areas... so it can shut off it's effects when the person lands. Otherwise the person will be walking around flaming and smoking with engines roaring.

True, but even now most common weapons are useless in H4 unless you're in a damage enabled area or have a combat HUD on. Does anyone have a Brash attachment that works anymore? (^_^) I do kinda =) Scripted followers are much easier to defeat by making the land no-rez no-object-entry. (^_^)y Thats true. However when you need to allow build then no-script defeats most stuff unless the attacker is sitting on or wearing it. |
