I am looking to make a script, but I am not quiet sure how to go about. The script I am looking to make will perform these tasks:

Residents pays the object
I get the money and the object logs who has paid

Does anyone know how I would go about doing this?

Well I have considered giving out lottery tickets, or do it like a raffle.

First you need a proper plan!

A script for a bonus number style lottery, is very different to a script for a raffle, is very different to a script for a simple 50-50 win-lose double or quits type game.

If all you want to do is collect money and have the people listed in a list that ought to be quite straightforward. However accessing the list of people yourself requires further thinking if youre not any good at scripting. Since its not possible to save data from scripts to notecards.....i dont think. ne on1?

IM me if you'd like and ill try to help you. Also i know there are a few simple lottery type scripts available on the Wiki and this sites script library. Find them, read them, try and understand them, put them in prims and chop them too pieces, bit by bit, see what breaks and then throw it away and start again. Put them together in a different order. Take a line out here and there, throw in some random nonsense. Youll get a feel for it sooner if you play with it than try and learn it

your are correct, you cannot write notecards via script, or scripts from scripts

both would be nice, but from what ive been told its a data nightmare on the backend

depending on the scale you intend to cover you could use list's, altho they get obnoxuiously slow at large sizes, use up more memory than they probally should ect and so on if you save your data using a "ram" script you can get about 200 user keys into 16kb before failure

to avoid speed issues and storage issues you could use something like PHP web scripting language on a webserver and llHTTPRequest (which is throttled so you still have to be conseritive on how and when you send data)

or use the other alternitive xml-rpc, which is nice, but not quite as fast, alot more powerfull

alot more powerfull as in overkill for data tracking, and requires more outside resources becuase of its powerfull nature

Ive heard both those terms mentioned in the Wiki, php and XML, any pointers to an introduction on what they are and how to use them?
