Panning the camera (need pointers)

I've never used the camera control much before. I want the AV to wear an attachment that is able to pan the camera to a definite rotation about the AV, essentially the same thing that is achieved by the Alt- left & right arrow keys on the keyboard. I assume that I would have to use llSetCameraParams, but I don't quite see how to do that. Could someone please give me some pointers to get started. A simple example would be great! Thanks
