I know about the requirement where an object's permissions must be set in world and then taken back into inventory for them to stick. I have a rezzer with some objects in it and I forgot to set the objects to next-owner "copy" before putting them in. The rezzer is in-world. Can I set the object permissions while they are inside the rezzer and will they stick? Or do I have to take all the objects out, rez them on the ground, set perms, take them again, and then put them back in the rezzer?

I think you have to take them out, change the perms, and put them back in. You might get away with changing the perms in situ, but I've never wanted to take the chance.

Thanks Rolig. I just now happened to run into this info while looking at the lslwiki (the alternate wiki):
"Copying a to-be-rezzed object from an user's inventory to a rezed object's inventory changes the default permissions on the to-be-rezzed object inside the rezed object's inventory. So, the copied object inside the rezzing object's inventory needs to be right-clicked and have copy permissions set."
That info doesn't appear in the official SL wiki so I'm not sure if it is still true, but it seems to imply that:
1. I didn't forget to change the perms, they were changed behind my back; and,
2. It may be okay to fix the permissions while the objects are still in the rezzer.
Guess I'll have to try it with an alt and see how it goes unless someone else already knows for sure.

Thanks. That's a nice find. Still, until we have reliable, up-to-date info I'll keep dragging things out, resetting perms, and dropping them back in.
My own general rule -- knowing how unpredictable SL can be at times -- is always to err on the side of caution, even if it means extra work. I'd rather waste a few minutes of my time unnecessarily than have some of my stuff get spread across SL with the wrong perms.
