I vaccilate between different scripting topics but, for this evening, I'm interested in weapon scripts.
I'm aware of the basic principle of bullets but there is clearly more than that. I've been visiting Rausch recently with shields on using the Templar Botworks Crusader, and it's not taken people there a long time to crack whatever shielding I'm using and either kill me or send me a million metres high.
(Edit: Although on further consideration I probably was not using the Crusader's shields properly anyway - I have no wish to impugn this fine product.)
I have an urge to understand how this works. Can anyone give me at least a grounding in modern weapon techniques?

The TTX shield, like any shield, can only stop physical bullets. Everybody is using non-phys these days for just that reason.

So how does a non-physical bullet work, given that phantoms aren't that easy to move? Say, a very long, thin phantom bullet, moved with llSetPos, that rezzes a real damaging bullet right next to someone when it detects that it's collided with them (using llVolumeDetect)?

Your bullet or gun could just llPushObject the target directly..
