Bow scripts

Hello,
I'm in the process making a bow. This is my first project like this and I'm at the point where I need to start working on scripts. Is there a basic open source one somewhere? I've been unable to find a 'bow' script. Is it really just a modded gun script? Any help would be great. Thanks a bunch.

They used to have a freebie bow and arrow set at the teleport hubs, but since they did away with them I'm not sure if they exist anymore. There was a wall with all sorts of freebies, so they might be at the welcome areas. Do a search for Yadni's Junkyard and find one of the earliest weapon packs. (They are dated by month and year) You may have it in one of them. I believe it's called camp bow and arrow set. The items are modifiable and the scripts are modifiable since Lindens provided them.

Thanks for all the advice. I have a few scripts i'm working with now but I'm having issues. The arrows are rezzed but just don't go anywhere
they either sit vertically right in front of the bow or to one side pointing backwards.

Again any help would be great.

I have found one set of free bow/arrow scripts, made by Eve Mikazuki and available in her store at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Ohrenisia%205/81/99/23. Just click the "free ranged weapon script" box.

I'm really close thanks to everyone here. I have only one issue left. My arrows shoot out of the bow and hit a target just fine. the only issue is that they are oriented improperly. Instead of traveling point first they they travel in a vertical orientation with the point facing up. The path they travel is still horizontal like it should be, but the arrow itself points up. What I don't get is that I do not see anything in the script that would cause this. Does any one have an idea on why this is happening? If I can get past this I can move on to making the anims I want to use. I'm so close. :P

Dug out my Waterhead Telehub to get you the bow set- btw if anyone is interested in the free Waterhead Telehub I boxed one up in a rez foo, the advertiser vendors on each end are fixed ... still needs a bit of tinkering to get it 100% opperational.

I suspect your orientation problem is because you need to look carefully at the XYZ directions on your arrow. If your root prim is a cylinder, I think the long axis is the local Z direction, not the usual X direction.

If you replace the shaft with a tube, I think it will work. Or, you could rotate the arrow 90 at rez time.
