I'm looking for a simple script that greets people in open chat upon teleporting to destination. Nothing complicated. (EXAMPLE: Greetings Akim Phoenix, welcome to HoochieMon Trail Island!)

I've been looking for hours in forums, Wiki & sl exchange with no luck. :(

Thanks Everyone

Didn't look hard enough then :D
Go back out to the main page of Scripting Tips and hit the Search This Forum button on top, right side. A search for "greeter" returns a lot of results. Several contain scripts that do what you ask.

and then make sure it uses llInstantMessage instead of open chat.... so that people standing nearby aren't spammed with "welcome so-n-so"

My internet connection doesnt help. half the time i get an error message saying server is down. not to mention i'm a script illiterate. I have no idea how to script at all. So even if i do find one, i may not even realize it.
