Is there a way to know if a payment is successful or not by the script?

To tell if the script has received money? Yes - see http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Money for more info.
To tell SL accepted and processed and did the right thing with money that a script payed somebody? No. Sadly, there's no way to tell.
