Can a script rez a duplicate of the primative it's in or only from inventory? I'm trying to make a wall generator which makes wall chunks that are flush with the ones next to them. I'd also like each new prim to auto-align it's texture. I'm thinking something like on_rez, llGetScale and SetScale, llGetpos and SetPos and then whatever removes scripts after each copy. Am I going about this the right way?

You can only rez what's in your inventory, but the standard procedure to rez a complete copy is detailed in the wiki: http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=SelfReplicationNote that as that indicates, that is self replication and thus needs to have a very close eye kept on it. I would think it would be safer and easier to have a "builder" prim that went around rezzing parts of the wall, which auto-configured or were instructed by the builder as to how to configure.
