Options for streaming sound?

Is there a way to stream sound without necessarily owning the land? For example, if I had a store where I wanted sound to play, but only in my store? Would I have to somehow get permissions set from the owner of the land, or am I pretty much set to just buy my own land to be able to stream sound?

You cannot change the stream if you do not own the land. Because the address the stream is tied to the land/parcel, music will be available to ingame-stream anywhere on the defined parcel at an equal volume, not localized to an area in it.

If your landlord is flexiblel, they could:
1. set up a parcel of land equivilent the position of your store
2. group own and deed a radio that you can change without being in the management group.

Note that for everything above (and/or below) your store, that music will play. So if your store is in a multi-level mall, your unstairs and downstairs neighbors may not want your music.

The only other option I've seen marginally successful is to have a device that detects the avatar in your store via a sensor, you greet them with an IM, then offer them a chance to link to a URL that is playing your stream with llLoadURL. This should activate the external software they have to play streams. Note that this will not stop the ingame-streaming, so they will have to turn that off. The external stream will stay on until they turn it off.

Hope that helps.
