heyas;

this is another chapter in the on-going saga of trying to create 'transparent' vehicles. that is, vehicles that when you ride them, you don't look as if you are riding a vehicle, but walkin(running/flying) around sl normally.

i managed to build a fairly decent one for my hansom cab, that an avarian horse could pull. it had a few problems:

1: starting it going was hard. like trying to pull a heavy weight from a dead standstill. okay, physically accurate, but not fun.

2: going uphill didn't work so hot. i could barely pull the cab up an incline.

3: turning was really fast, and i couldn't seem to slow it down any more.

4: the whole cab slides sideways if its on any sort of incline, while standing still.

are there any general formulae or settings i should look into for these sorts of things. i'll get the code when i get in world, for specifics.

now the other problem i am having is the vehicle shape. i found that using a plank as the base didn't work, because the flat end of the plank would hit the edge of a curb, and splat, it would stop. so i made it a sphere so the curved front end could ski up over the curbs and bumps.

but here i am working with just an elongated, slightly flattened sphere, and it works okay on flat terrain, but i try it on any type of incline, and it tips forward into a faceplant. and i have tried different lengths, breadths and heights for this sphere to try to make it more stable. i tried moving the 'seat' prim back, so my avatar wasn't sticking off the front of the engine, but even sticking off the back, it still tends to faceplant. it has vertical attractors to stand it up, even. so i dont know.

how the heck do you make a 1-prim vehicle that doesnt fall over??? gah!

ive seen some vehicles that appear to be rounded cones (twisted tori), with part of it sunk into the ground. but vehicles are physical, that means it CANT sink into the ground, doesnt it?
