Good place to look for a scripting job?

Well I've been running around here and there. If I'm looking at the right places, I believe the Classified section filled with people primarily interested in looking for objects, or objects with scripts, but never really scripts on its own. I've joined the Metajob group and hoping to be able to contact someone interested in hiring a scripter.

Also, what are some script functions that are common among comissioners? I believe llGetNotecardLine is one of them.

i never searched for a job in sl but did meet builders that have problems with scripting.
Maybe you can join a builders group that build things and that you make the scripts for them.

Have seen that builders and scripters combine there skill and build things together.
Maybe thats a way to find a job.

Other option is to join of groups of Sandboxen and ask in these groups if ppl need a scripter (Check first if chat in these groups is allowed else you can get banned)

and don't ask to often else you can get AR of Spamming

This isn't really the right place to look for a job -- we're about learning to how to script. I think if you look in "Products Wanted" you may well find people asking for scripts to do stuff (or objects that will do stuff, so they'll need a script in them).

For what it's worth, I spent ages making simple stuff for friends for free before I felt confident enough to charge for anything. I also spent a lot of time in the in-world scripting groups, asking and -- as I learned more -- answering questions. That, I found a very useful way of learning, because if people asked "how do you do such and such," I'd often not know the solution but could see a way to figure it out, so I would, and then tell them how I'd just done it. Quite apart from being a valuable way of learning to solve scripting problems, it gained me, though this wasn't the plan, a bit of rep for knowing a thing or two and for being nice and helpful, and people started asking me for help on paid projects.

If you don't mind my saying so, I think that's the wrong way to look at it. Yes, customers quite often want people to be able to configure stuff from a notecard, but that's only part of the story... what they tend want is an object that will do such and such, and you can change some aspects of its behavior with a notecard. But what they're really interested in is that some of the prims in it change shape or colour on command, or it moves about or changes radio stations or whatever.

products/services wanted often has stuff that's mostly scripting jobs, although it's potluck if they want something possible/reasonable or are willing to pay a reasonable price.

tagging your builder friends is often a great source of scripting jobs, though friends tend to pay low. but if you brand you stuff it WILL get you exposure.

another thing is to create scripts that you find useful for basic things, and then just have them around to offer whenever someone needs something like that, which will often get you repeat business, for different things.

I've also found that offering free simple stuff will get you lots of exposure, which can lead to future scripting jobs.

a lot of it also depends on your skill level and your concept of how the script should be interacted with... and an ability to switch between styles of display, and how controlling the whole thing works... some customers will want dialog configurations, some notecard readers, others prefer variables set in the prim description, etc, ad astra.

key ideas are to be able to separate how a thing works from it's methods of control/input, as well as it's method of display, so that any combination can be used (and some combinations work better for certain things, so be prepared to suggest those, and give reasons why)

None of my business, and it's totally up to you, but...

Why go to the trouble of looking for someone who needs a script for their object when you could just make an original product of your own?

Seems to me you are wanting to target other content creators as your market. The suggestion to join some quality builder groups is a good one. Also keep looking in the Products Wanted forum, it's a good place to discover ideas for what to make and what people are looking for in general.
