Script that prevents dresses from falling through you when you sit.

I was wondering if there is such a script or someone has tried yet. I like wearing dresses from time to time but if you sit on a couch poseball etc it falls through you and the couch.

You could have something that the Sit Status triggered changes to the flexi parameters - I've seen a tutorial somewher (or a blog)

Essentially these scripts detect when the avatar is sitting and move the dress to a different (rotated position). Usually, you have to rotate the dress manually to where you want it to be and have the script remember the results.

I've never seen one that worked terribly well. It's ok if you only sit in one pose, like the default SL pose with legs together. But if you change your poses with an AO, or use different poses at different times, you still end up with the same problem. E.g. if you set the dress for when you are sitting with legs together side by side, the legs will still show through when you cross your legs.

I suppose you could write a script with multiple positions built in. It would have to recognize what animation is playing and adjust accordingly. That seems more trouble than it's worth and would require more work from the dress owner than what most people would want to do.

That's why we have those stupid glitch pants.

Yes, there are several commercial scripts on the market. They all work by simply rotating an attached skirt at your waist so that is tilts up in front as you sit. They don't do anything to the skirt itself, and they won't do anything about the fact that prim skirts penetrate sofas and other things you may sit on.

I have tried a couple of the devices and am NOT impressed. For one thing, rotating the skirt simply jams it into your stomach and leaves your butt exposed. They are also most effective for short skirts. Longer ones look very poofy when you sit, as if you were trying to hide a pillow under your skirt. Most seriously, the scripts are activated any time your avatar goes into a sit position. In addition to normal sitting, those times include any times when you may sit on a poseball to (1) dance (2) teleport (3) use a posestand ..... It is mildly embarrassing to choose a dance poseball and have your skirt flip up in front.

The better scripts do give the wearer a toggle to turn the device on and off, so you can disable them if you remember in time, and if you remember what the toggle is. My guess is that many people who buy skirts with the device built in get frustrated and leave it disabled, as I have.

Now, if you can think of a clever way to script something that beats all of these problems, congratulations. I'd love to see what you create.

while not perfect I have seen several that do a decent job of repositioning attachments for different poses... a lot depends on the construction of the attachment though. the best ones are triggered off of a tweaked AO, that sends the current pose as a chat message, then any attachment hearing it can check if it has special instructions for that pose and apply them. some are simply chat triggered (so you can adjust at will) but can be modified. the problem comes in getting a skirt where you can modify flexi properties... not all makers allow that and flexi requires a lot of personalized tweaking.
