I am trying to make a alert system and I need it to be able to communicate with other objects in adjacent sims. I have tried to have it relay a message to the other sims but it just relays the message back making it pointless. This is one way to fix it but I am not sure if it is possible. Can anyone help me?

Only avatars can receive instant messages. However, you can llEmail an object and receive it using the email event. The llEmail function causes a script to sleep for 20 seconds. If you look up llEmail it and the email event at wiki.secondlife.com, it should give you everything you need.

Sometime in the future the "HTTP-In" project should give another option for this as well. Who knows when it will make it out of Beta though. I know I'M very impatient for it.

Start with:
http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llEmail http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llGetNextEmail http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=email If you are still lost after reading them come back and follow up. It would probably help to describe what parts confuse you too, rather than a vague, "How do I make it work?" |

Oh. If this is between adjacent sims, I THINK you might be able to get away with llShout() or even llSay() too if the objects are close enough to each other across the border. Not completely sure though.
Parcel build/entry options permitting, you could also send little messenger objects across the boundary to convey messages through chat (in which case llRegionSay() would work after the crossing). |

if i have to make different things communicate between different sims, i make a php server which contains all infos and priorities
the objects would communicate trough this by posting messages on different boxes alias datas' cell on the database. |
