Hi
I'd just like to ask if I am within my rights to do the following.

I have a shop and I sell through boxes, my boxes are linked to a server - pretty standard set up.

Should I be put in a situation where I am being harassed etc am I allowed to ban people from buying from my boxes.
(Not that I know if this is even possible).

The reason is I have nice tools to ban someone from my land, but what about when I rent space in malls etc?
As my boxes are all linked to the same server, it would seem more practical for me to be able to ban names though a notecard in my server.

Lets say for example someone steals a texture from me and I don't want them having any access to my material in future - would I be allowed to do this?

Hi Wanda, sounds like that would be a creative approach. It is within your rights to decide who you do business with.

As for the technical end, I'm going to move this to Scripting Tips to see if anyone has any ideas. :)

If you ban somebody from you land, then they can't touch (or therefore buy) the things on your land. It's already taken care of for you.

But yes, it is also possible with scripting to not allow a list of people to touch your objects. It's easy enough to send out the notecard containing the ban list, using llGiveInventory to each of the vendors, and then use that with your touch event.

Yes, as said above, it's your merchandise, do what you like with it.

The core code is very easy, although you need some extra to process your notecard. But assuming you have a list of people you want banned, then you just need to get your touch_start going like this

touch_start (integer total)
{
if (llListFindList(Ban_List, llKey2Name(llDetectedKey(0))) != -1) {
-------- rest of your touch code here -----------
}
}
