I really hate pasting anything in here anymore because of the whole < thing...I posted a little tutorial on my blog because I'm a crappy blogger and never post so since I was doing it I went ahead and put it on my wiki user page too so I actually have something there lol..anyway, it shows how to use http-in straight from your desktop to communicate with a prim in SL.

Not a wonder, I know, but it will help people who are just starting. It's at

Well, yanno the big problem most people seem to be having is they put this stuff on a server, and they keep posting to the email lists and here and all and they can't get it to work. It's because they are using shared hosting with a company that has a restriction on outbound ports. And that 12046 port or whatever it is (i can't remember off the top of my head) that SL uses isn't allowed out from the host's server.

So, basically I wanted to show that yes, it does work, and no, it isn't borked. SL just chose to stick it on a port that none of the big hosting companies will allow outbound lol.
