Anybody seen (or done) measurements on how the new 1.27 HTTP stuff compares to things like llRegionSay, performance wise?

I would be astonished if HTTP wasn't a couple of orders of magnitude slower than llRegionSay for communication within a single region.

(not saying it can't happen, but I'd be astonished)

That's sorta what I assumed but figured I'd ask if anybody had real numbers.

Maybe I'll check. Or maybe you will. Or maybe Adam's off ox will. :)

It will have low throughput. llHTTPRequest has a throttle. There are errors past 25 in 20 seconds. I hope that latency will have a more happy story. llGetTimeStamp compares do not make me happy.

To be fair, it's meant as a robust way to communicate between website and SL. It wasn't really meant to be a replacement for llSay/llShout/llRegionSay. It is being considered (carefully) as a replacement for llEmail (no time soon).

So I would just be glad it has the added benefit of being used in an 'llSay' way, but I wouldn't get upset that it doesn't outperform llSay. It just wasn't meant to.
