I'm playing with sensor, just trying to do what I've seen others do at this point. And the 'radar' i have tells me if the person is busy, or away or typing. How do I get that info?

THanks

sensor across a region boundry
05-30-2009 11:50
Ok, I'm continuing to play with sensor - and i noticed that when i approach a sim boundary, i dont see the avatars on the other side in the sensor results - until i actually cross the boundary. Is there a way to see nearby avatars in another sim before you cross the boundary. ....by 'see' i mean, for sensor to see them.

thanks
robin :)

Sensors are dumb and don't see next door. Sometimes llSensorRepeat can see across the border but only every few scans.

Check out Greenlife Emerald viewer. It can help you make a better scanner and you don't have to rez helpers. It can see the whole sim and child agents too. Hit the Radar button and then the options leaf and turn on announce keys to HUD. The new keys get chatted to channel -777777777 and you can change it in debug, EmeraldRadarChatKeysChannel. The chat really looks like 65337,19,key_goes_here. I do not know what the 65537,19, is for but it is hard coded.

Emerald chats new keys it sees but not who leaves. The script has to clean old keys by itself.

probably object type and data type... or some similar hierarchic reference. can't say for certain without actually looking at the source.

It is just a string literal. Maybe one of the writers uses it for something else in their own script.

If you read the stuff at the URL I pointed you toward for llGetAgentInfo, you'll find the following note:

"The agent defined by id must be in the same simulator as the script calling this function."

That's true for many of the sensor functions or information-gathering ones. If you and the target aren't being handled by the same set of servers, you can't expect the functions to work.
