the midnight mania boards have a counter that increments every time the user touches them. I was wondering how they do that? I can make it work with the text displaying above the object but how to I make it like the midnight mania boards?? do they use a different texture for each number? are the numbers even textures?? some insight from anyone would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

dunno what it looks like so can't say for certain, but if it isn't hover text then they are probably using either textured prims or particle textures (if they rotate to face you as you go round, it's particles)

It uses a form of xytext, or a form of it. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/XyText_1.5

that reminds me, I need to post some better prim cuts for that... the square hole type still uses huge overlaps, whereas the circle with slitghly different cuts/holow doesn't, and means you can highlight individual faces without (as much) weird overlap (although at the cost of v.slight distortion, mostly unnoticeable)
