Need a better teleporter, or help with this one

Someone in the game I picked up a free "Point to Point Teleporter in a Box"

It works great for most of my uses, except my current one.

One point is located at 21m above sea level. The other is directly above it at 196m... The help file says "theoretical" range is a couple hundred of meters.

When I attempt to transport, it warps me to a seemingly random place elsewhere on the Sim, but not the destination.

Is there a long-range teleporter out there, or am I going to have to cut the trip into two segments?

The max pseudo-teleportation you can do is 300m (pseudo meaning that it's not a true teleportation, but a trick utilizing the sit target functionality of SL).

The reason you are being teleported to seemingly random locations, is because the script you are using assumes that the teleporter prim is rotated at <0,0,0> (i.e. no rotation off 0).

Two ways to fix the problem, rotate the teleporter prim to <0,0,0> under the Object tag when editing the prim, or pickup an improved teleportation script at the University of Second Life in the Phobos Sim. That script will compensate for any rotation in the teleporter prim.

The teleporter script is free, and is located in the teleporter "pads" located on the outside of the doorway on each floor at the University.

BTW, the University is under re-construction, so they will be moved. I will move them to the USL Library as soon as I can login, which may be a few days.

if it's mine, then I can help. If it's mine and you got it from someone not me, I suggest you get it from my store... there's a working one there...

Hank, chances are it's mine. There were several extras in the box originally, including instructions...

However, some have been showing up as the basic script with no prims or pack, so no instructions... I take no responsibility for these, but am willing to supply a free copy of the working one.

Yeah, it's yours, Siobhan. I "bought" it directly from your store. Several copies in fact since it's no-copy.

I'm able to get it set up, and it works... it's just I seem to have hit that distance boundry or something cause the 200m I'm trying to move people is warping them to random places in the sim.

hrm, well... it's 300m horizontally, but maybe not vertically... I'll investigate...

I use one of yours, Siobhan, to go straight up 300m and it works fine. I also move diagonally and horizontally.
