I'm making an attached object worn by Avatar1, which will react on a command by Avatar2, upon which Avatar1 will follow Avatar2 around, within a distance of x meters.
I know how to set up the listening commands etc., but I can't figure out how to make an avatar follow another. The forums seem to talk about having unattached physical objects following an avatar, but not avatar on avatar.
Any ideas, with specific coding, would be appreciated.

Why not just make something that Avatar 2 can wear and command... just by using a sensor and follow the target given?

Here's a cheap hack of an idea, and it will work as long as you do not cross a Sim border.
Get one of those red "devil" thingies that talk to people and follow you around. Attach that, and tell the person you want to follow you to sit on the devil. That will work, and you can even chain them for as many people as you know that have them. It's a pretty funny thing to see as well! _____________________

It's a pretty funny thing to see as well! I did this with a kitty pet that I made, but the three of us had one rezzed and sat on each other's pets. Then we kept going up in the air in a circle, until one of us decided to unsit, at which point we all came falling down from the sky and went splat. Good times!  _____________________

use llMoveToTarget() to move the other avatars position + so many x meters away
use llStopMoveToTarget() IMPORTANT! to stop the move when they are done. Attach it, a viola. _____________________
