I have noticed a high # of transactions between my web server and the second life xmlrpc server failing with request timed out (i'm not alone see http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-29 ).

So my question is..... the only solution to this problem (since linden's don't seem consider it a priority) is to hammer my web server with http requests from every object every few seconds to detect updates?

Thanks for ideas&thoughts on this

There are a few threads here dealing with the subject. All came to the same conclussion that the lack of support for xml-rpc sucks and you have to do http polling if you want something reliable.
