I use several free scripts that store info, such as a sim crash logger and a script to give away freebies. For example, that freebie script remembers the names of avatars that click it and stores their names for about 24 hours or so.
Where is this info saved and how can I read/access that stored info?

It's usually as simple as some global variable in the script itself. Excepting a few corner cases, scripts retain their working memory across things like sim restarts and takes to inventory.
Some objects will attempt to make their data a little more resistant against script crashes, and stash an extra copy of the information in the prim description, color/alpha, and so on.

Thanks Viktoria, but how can I access this information? I can't find any clue in the script itself.

Well... there's not really a standard protocol or anything like that. You would really have to look at each script, see where it's storing the information you want, then add some code to do your extra thing (which could be to send it out with link messages or chat for other scripts to use). I know that's horribly unspecific, but it really is going to be different for every script (and it could be virtually impossible to coax the information out if you don't have the source code to look at and change)
