Chain Anywhere help?

I've followed the sparse documentation I was provided but can't seem to get things to work properly concerning using Xcite!'s partner scripts in conjunction with the "Chain Anywhere" system. Xcite! claims they are not in the script teaching business so I throw myself on the mercy of the forum for some advice.

I put the provided, no mod Chain Anywhere script in four "posts" and named the prims lcuff, rcuff, llcuff, and rlcuff. I also built a pose ball and, in the section that does the animation I put the obligatory llLinkedMessage commands, one for each cuff attach point, using the designated code that says activate chain and the "#" variable replaced with "#lcuff", "#rcuff", etc... In the "stand up" section I put the same four llLinkedMessage commands but changed the code to the one that means get rid of the chain.

When I sit on the pose ball, while wearing Xcite!'s cuffs on my four body parts, nothing happens. When standing next to a post and clicking on one of the cuffs, and then clicking on one of the script-equipped posts, the chain does manifest itself as expected. This must mean I am doing something wrong in the pose ball script.

Isn't it simply a matter of added the link command? Does anyone have a code snippet they'd be willing to share to demonstrate a SUCCESSFUL implementation of the Chain Anywhere cuff system?

Thanks!

personally, I would ditch the Xcite stuff, and go to your nearest Amethyst Vendor (she's everywhere), and buy the 1L Amethyst Cross. It's full permissions, with all the scripts and documentation you would ever need inside to make animated furniture and Cuffs using Lockmeister. As well, Amethyst Rosencrans is very friendly and will more more than willing to help with any questions you may have, although I think the information in the cross is very complete. :)

Additionally, the LockGuard system is also extremely easy to set up and use, freely obtainable at the Dictatorshop, if all you are looking for is chaining systems. I have used both Amethyst's Lockmeister and LockGuard recently to set up a project and LockGuard was the easier by a little. Both Amethyst's system and LockGuard are open source, so if you need to adapt them to a more specialized project you can. I am super pleased to have discovered both systems.

Hi Bartiloux! While we do not offer general scripting assistance, we can and will assist partners such as yourself when it comes to integrating our scripts or getting them to work. In other words, we might not assist someone trying to write poseball scripts, but we WILL assist when it comes to integrating the Xcite! partner scripts with them. Your question is one we will definitely assist you with. According to our records you have not yet tried to contact Nyteshade directly on this issue, so my advice is to contact her and let her assist you, she spends a ton of time helping our partners. :)

As for other chaining systems, we support them, we do not compete with them. I recommend you ignore the questionable advice of the first response and try to be compatible with ALL the systems out there in order to work with the widest range of equipment.

Sincerely,
Javier, Xcite!

And what is exactly questionable about my advice? He stated that Xcite would give him no help, and I simply offered him an alternative, based on his statement. I am not able to help him use a closed system that is not publicly documented, so I gave him the best advice under the circumstances he outlined. Please don't get personally nasty with me because you have a beef with Amethyst.

I consider your advice unsound because I do not see how it will help the original poster with his sales by choosing one system over another, which is what you seemed to be advocating, when he could make furniture that is compatible with many systems. I would recommend all furniture makers be as compatible as possible with all the systems out there, I think it's just good business sense. You are welcome to disagree with that, of course. I was not being personally nasty with you, I merely recommended against your suggested course of action, that is all.

Well I found it interesting that you singled me out as the "first response" when the second response also did nothing to advocate your system. Had you said "previous responses" I probably wouldn't have taken offense. In any event, the OP is free to try and use as many or few system as he/she desires. They obviously already knew of Xcite, now they know of two others.

Thank you to all for your replies. My apologies for causing a bit of commotion with my query. It certainly was not my intention to do so. I just couldn't imagine that the creators of one of SL's most popular sex toy product line would have the time to entertain scripting questions. Additionally, as was suggested here as well as in the Xcite documentation that I do have, I plan on making this project, as well as all future projects, compatible with as many chain / locking systems as possible, following object naming convention standards, etc...

Thank you, again...
