I'm trying to make furniture that's Sensations compatible, but the builder information that came with the Builder's Kit is a little sparse.
I'm using the Amethyst Pose Script to control my animations, and it uses a Settings notecard to feed data to the script. The problem is that there's a chunk of data in the settings that isn't explained anywhere. Here's a sample line from the card, as well as the comment line explaining the layout of the data:
********************
# Animation|Lockmeister targets|Sensations text|arousal or pain|Amount|Interval in seconds
Suspend1|wrist1t rcuff wrist1b lcuff ankle4 llcuff ankle2 rlcuff|%o squirms delightfully in the chains.|arousal|1 20|30
********************
The problem is the "|1 20|" bit. The "1" is clearly the amount of increase, but I have no idea what the 20 is for. It's not the interval since that follows at the end, and I do know that it's needed for the Partner script to send valid information to the Sensations Core.
Also, I've never seen any of the Sensations text display anywhere, so I don't even know if it's being used. I test this with a Core in use, but I never see a thing.
Now, these scripts only seem capable of making changes to either the Pain or Arousal values, but not any of the others. I know there are Chastity and Sub scripts out there too, but the Partner Script is supposed to be able handle all of what they do through Link Messages. I only have a passing understanding of scripting and Link Messages isn't part of that yet. All I know is that those other scripts also use a Settings notecard to turn them on and off, which I'm guessing would conflict with the one that the Pose script is already using.
Basically, what is that "20" value doing, where do the Sensations messages display, and how can I get the Partner script to make changes to all the other Sensations values, beyond just Pain and Arousal, when the Settings data doesn't allow for it?
Thanks!

Have you asked the creator of the scripts?

That will be what I do if there's no one here that can help. I try to avoid contacting the creators of things if there is an alternative way of getting answers since they already get a lot of questions. I know that there are many people out there that create items using these scripts, so I'm hoping to hear from some of them in this forum, where I can get into more details about my questions.

the problem you have, is that xCite has a "limited partnership program" and by publically disclosing/discussing their communications protocols.. you risk losing your precious "partner" status. There are hundreds of scripters out here.. WAITING for those protocols to be explained.. so we can add xCite support to our "unapproved" products."
I don't think you'll find many people willing to help you on these public forums.. and risk their partner status by doing so. But as someone who xCite WON'T approve (and I have been trying for months)... I certainly hope you do.Edited.. because uhm.. yeah DUH.. sorry.

From: Scott Bristol Sensations isn't xcite. Umm ... yeah. What he said. All of these scripts I'm working with are freely available from Sensations, I'm just looking for a bit of guidance as to their use. Winter, maybe you should consider developing for Sensations instead of Xcite since they don't seem to be nearly as draconian about letting people build for them. Just a thought.

I agree the instructions are sparse but I would think Amethyst is intending to show the value can be a range from 1 to 20. Only put one number there. And Amethyst Rosecrans is quite friendly. If you IM her nicely in SL and catch her on a free moment, I am sure she could help you directly. Your questions may help them to improve their documentation.

Thanks Tes. I know that I need to have both values there since I tested it and it wouldn't work with only one. I asked in the Amethyst group today and someone told me that the 20 might represent the the maximum value that can be reached using that animation. I'll test that tonight to see. You make a very good point though, about asking questions that might help to improve the documentation. I won't hesitate next time with that in mind. Thanks!

From: Eris Fallon Winter, maybe you should consider developing for Sensations instead of Xcite since they don't seem to be nearly as draconian about letting people build for them. Just a thought. I hate to continue this derailment of the thread, but I would like to set the record straight. We are careful who we let into the partner program for Xcite! because, as one of the largest and most popular sex systems out there, our products and customers are targets for griefing. We do a rather simple screening process to make sure those we give our scripts to will not use them to harass our customers. We do this to protect our customers, and I think in general they are very thankful for it. I would hardly call this 'draconian', and those partners who work with us get additional benefits, like our direct assistance when they need it, advertising in our store, etc. All of which is free, including the scripts. Very few people are turned away, and when they are it is for a very good reason. If people have concerns about our partner program, or questions, they can direct those to partner@getxcite.com. - Javier, Xcite!

Maybe I should also briefly add that the Sensations Partner Script is a black box. It can't be edited or viewed. As I understand it, you can pass it data, and then it translates that to the Core, but you can't manipulate the script beyond that.
In that way, it sounds much different than what Xcite offers.
I only mention it for clarity. It really isn't my place to pass any kind of judgment on the Xcite program, since I admit, I'm not at all involved with it.

From: Scott Bristol Sensations isn't xcite. Uhm yeah... duh.. okay.. I was tired.. does that count? Okay that changes EVERYTHING.. the best person to talk to about the Sensations system is of course, Amethsyt. She's awesome when it comes to supporting her products.
