Script for playing audio (without parcel)

but no, other's won't hear it.

Only one stream per parcel can play, so if someone hears yours, it's interfering with the other... and that can't be done at present. in any case, the listeners would need to agree to hear yours, and I would think on getting a popup saying that Avatar x wants to stream something to your PC, 100% of people would vote F**k NO!

We used to do inworld music by ripping music to WAV files, chopping them up into 10 second chunks, uploading them each at L$10 a pop, and then playing them in order using a script (with the requisite overlapping and delays between 10 second segments due to scripting lag and mostly from downloading lag). Then, people would blast the music so loud, neighbors would complain, fights would ensue, etc.

With streaming on parcels, it's much better now.

As for syncing up streaming with nearby people without using the land music URL, then you'd have to create an attachment that would somehow get the streaming URL to people around you that are wearing said attachment, or something like that.

But we have to consider this... if you are streaming it and have control of the stream...

Anyone listening is giving you their IP address and all the data that goes with it. Now, this is true of landowner streams too, but if you're like me you default to not playing.

You might be the most honourable and honest person in the world, but once something like that hits the market, you KNOW that it'll be used to grief or stalk people in rl.

Really, it's best to use WinAmp, and find a way to announce the stream you're listening to... maybe as floating text over your head for those who want to join in.
