I'm challenged when it comes to understanding scripting, so I'm tossing it to you, the maestros. Is there a script out there that simulates the action of something idly floating on an ocean surface? Just a gradual rising and falling as if a wave passes beneath the object. (Boats, or buoys in a harbor setting). Dont want to make anyone seasick, lol, just seems it would be a nice asthetic touch to some of the great craft one sees about. Thanks!

i have seen a number of hover scripts (mostly for followers) that bob up and down but i don't know who's name to give you.

Are there any known hooks into the existing "ripple water" effect? I'm annoyed at my boats that capsize and emerge unflooded with every wave.

Far as I know water and waves are just a visual affect and aren't physical at all. Hence you can't script to ride the waves.

You "hover" over water, but really you're boat isn't SITTING on the water, it's hovering at the water's height value. The actual water, as a physical object, doesn't exist.

You can simulate bobbing, but good luck timing that to the waves. No doubt waves/water are completely client side too.

Water's just eye candy with a constant that declares it's height.

Bos said it best.

Water is a single number; its global height to render at. Everything else is client side visual effect. Thats why you can't swim in SL (Without scripted attachments)... theres nothing to swim in.
