I am having some odd issues.... It seems at though if I uses llGetVel() during a collsion handler I get the velocity just before it struck. I was hoping to dampen the bounce after a collision... but I can't get the actual resultant velocity during the handler... any ideas?

No specific knowledge in this area but a couple of suggestions. Have you tried collision as opposed to collision_start? Then the only other thing I can't think of is putting in llSleep(0.1) when the collision is triggered before llGetVel()?

well. collsion, collison_start and collision_end all had the same behavior. So I went a completely different route to solve the problem. and it worked.
