Funneling steam in a Volcano

Hi guys,

I haven't done any particle scripting as yet, and I am hoping for a few pointers.

In a volcano I am building I have a large 40m diameter circular megaprim, with a swirling lava texture on it, lava fountains, and lava bubbles.

I now want to have red vapor (like red-colored steam, if you like), emitting from the lava surface, and rather than going straight up I want it to gradually combine to form a funnel effect (like an upside down V), as the volcano head is acting like a chimney.

Can anyone point me at a good steam effect example, which I can then change to red, and suggest how to get the funneling effect?

TIA

Hmm. You want to funnel the particles INTO a point? You may not have much luck with that unless you:

1.) Don't mind them stopping at that point (PSYS_SRC_TARGET_KEY with a prim/object at the top, and the PSYS_PART_TARGET_POS_MASK flag).
2.) Have many emitters positioned around the edges and aimed in the right direction.
3.) Don't mind starting the particles up at the culmination point, and just have them fan outward from there up (the PSYS_SRC_PATTERN_ANGLE_CONE pattern).

Hope you find something to your liking. Good luck!

Thanks Hewee,

Johan came around and did it all for me in 5 minutes, starting with some particles from a cup of coffee!! It now looks amazing. I gave him his own sim as a reward.
