This is probably a really silly question, but still, I'm curious: is it possible for people to sit on attachments (with sit targets?)? Or can objects that people are sitting on be attached to avatars?

I imagine that the answer to both is no...

Thank you. I can use some of this kind of "silly" right about now.:)

That kinda means what you mean by "attachment".

You can sit on nearly anything, provided it doesn`t exceed a few restrictions. One of those restrictions is that it cannot be something that someone is wearing. If you try, the option simply does not appear in the pie menu. I don`t know about the equivalent options in the window menus.

You can attach nearly anything, but I don`t know what happens when you try to wear something that is being sat on. I`m pretty sure that either the wear will fail, or the sitter will be unsat, but I haven`t tried it, so I cannot rule out the possibility that the object will attach, sitter and all. I cannot even rule out the possibility that the wear options fail to appear in the menu.

You used to, but you can't anymore.
You can however build a vehicle which will simulate this, but it's not the nicest of solutions, ie the vehicle would move and animate you as though you were moving normal, but would have an additional sit point wherever you want someone to sit.

That "sit point" could be entirely invisible, and in fact it could be scaled and relocated inside your avatar, so that you could call it up via a voice command like "hop on"

But at the end of the day, you'd still be "driving a vehicle" and that has some limitations. But a very talented scripter (NOT ME) could probably make it's movement and animations for the "driver" mimic "real" walking, running, and jumping/flying.

Of course, like any vehicle.. you'd have to take special care when crossing sim boundaries.. and there might be some unexpected vehicle failures from time to time.. but YES.. I think it's practically acheivable with a vehicle of some kind.

I have ridden on [and driven] such vehicles. They have looked like saddles on dragons, but needn`t.

Sitting on attachments hasn't been a feature in SL since beta.

Vehicle scripting is challenging. Getting them configured in such a way that is satisfactory is difficult.
