greetings, I am totally new to scripting in SL, I have some items that I need to attach scripts to and I have no idea how to do this. I need to have several items couple together and release on command. I have scrips that I got from a third party that can do this. I just don't know how to attach use them with the items.

Any help would be appriciated

the script usually goes in the root prim, which is the last prim selected. if you have a linked set you can click edit and the root prim will always be surrounded with a yellow line

When you have linked the prims, select "Edit Linked Parts" and then click on the root prim. Go to the Contents tab in the Edit panel. Drag-drop your script there. Or, simply drag-drop the script out of your inventory onto the prim itself. (You may have to hold down the Ctrl key as you do it.)

noob to noob

hi. i am also noob but mostly stumbling around on my own and learning by trial and error. i still don't know enough to write scripts from scratch but i can take a script and change a few things and then re-deploy it with objects. You rez your object or objects and then go to the content tab, click on new script and it enters a basic starter script in content window. click on new script in content window to open it, copy the actual text of your script you want to put in there even from an offworld file like Word works fine, and paste it over the basic script text to replace it. walla. alternatively if you have the script ready to go as a script file in SL just open the content tab for the objects and drag and drop it in without using the default basic script. to get script into operation you may have to stop editing the objects, go to SL top menu, edit, and click on set scripts to running. i have gotten in the habit of completely taking my objects and then re-rezing them to get scripts running...not sure if this step is needed or not, but it seems to work so i do it.

good luck.

maybe you can help me with my problem. i can't get the plugins for wings to work for import/export to SL. have you used it?
