You can't. It is all or nothing.

You can't, phantom-ness is a property of the whole object - not individual prims.
Some people have reported some success making individual linked prims flexi (which makes them act phantom) while adjusting the sliders so they don't actually flex around visibly. But apparently that's not very reliable either, and the objects tend to end up going all phantom down the line. _____________________

Linking flexis without whole set going phantom

i've never had any problem with flexis turning the rest of the link set phantom Do tell! How do you do that? I have wanted to hang a solid bottle on a dangling (flexi) piece of rope so that it swings with the rope but does not itself become phantom. Would love to know how to accomplish this! |

Would love to know how to accomplish this! I don't think that'll work - flexi's are always sorta at the end of an object, never at the start. |

Phantomness isn't the only problem. Once you attach the bottle to the flexi end of your piece of string, it stops being flexi. You might be able to script your way around it by targeting the loose end of the rope and getting the bottle to track it, but my guess is that you'll create more lag than it's worth, and that it won't work very well anyway.

Would love to know how to accomplish this! http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=LibraryRopeConstraint "This script creates a pseudo-realistic rope constraint between two objects. Put this script in two nearby physics objects; they should detect one another and become joined by a particle-based representation of a rope. Making one of the objects non-physical and suspending it in mid-air high enough should cause the other, physical object to swing under it. (In fact, it's much less dangerous this way.) This does not require the llPushObject function to be allowed." Worth a look? |

Worth a look? i love this script, i've used it a few times in the past. i played with it some and made a bungee cord effect lol, make one prim non-physical, and make the other physical, sit on the physical one, and move it around, you'll be bouncing around like crazy. it was quite funny to watch, but i couldn't figure out how to make it longer than......20m? i think that's how long i got it to before it quite working and i ended up falling all the way to the ground and if you attach one of the prims to someone, it becomes sort of a leash, couldn't get it to work together attached to 2 different people though |

Wow, Innula, that's a sweet trick, thanx I'm just obstinate enough to think anything can be done but do realize that different (sometimes undesirable) costs are involved. Thx, again I'll def try this one out. |
