I am starting development on a screen HUD for an RPG build. It will be interactive. But how does the SL client place itself, is it still within the llSay,llShout,llWhisper ranges to your avatar? I don't want to use anything but llSay, shouts will affect far too many people. I am thinking collission prims and chat calls to trigger the screen HUD. And vice versa. But what is the chat range on screen wearables, and what point do they originate from, does anyone know?

AFAIK the chat emanates from the avatar center and has the same range as an unattached object.

This is kind of an educated guess/assumption, but I've never run into anything that would make me think differently.. if anybody does know differently, I'd be interested to hear!

I've tested a HUD with whisper, say and shout and the results do seem to confirm that it is the usual limits eminating from the avatar wearing the HUD.

awesome, thanks so much. I know I could have tested this pretty easily. But I am still in the planning stages and am writing up ideas at this point.

If you're talking to the wearer of the HUD, why not use llOwnerSay()?

As for your question -- HUD attachment points are just a specialized attachment point; things attached to your HUD are essentially the same as if they were attached to your avatar.
