I too would love this. Often while loggin on I work on a script in notepad, but it's just not the same. I need the colors
. Also the spacing is different, so when I convert in into SL, it looks a little funky._____________________
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

And, sorry if this is out of context, but what about an offline primitive editor? I imagine such a thing may lead to malice though.

Take a look at the Open Source Metaverse Project at http://metaverse.sourceforge.net/. Although it's "not ready yet", it will feature a simple way to edit SL objects off-line - or, rather, hosting it on your "own" sim.
As to scripting, OSMP uses the Lua language - not Linden Scripting Language. However, in the near future, SL will be able to use several different languages at the same time, according to Cory Linden, as they're moving towards an implementation of Mono inside SL (the early results are very promising). That way, you'd be able to use Lua over Mono, test your scripts on "your own sim at home" using OSMP, design and create the objects there, and then upload everything into SL ![]() Ah, the wonderful world of open source software... _____________________

you may want to check this page in the LSL wiki
http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=AlternativeEditors it has links to external editors and/or downloads to make them color LSL correctly jester . _____________________

I've considered something like this, and put in a little work on it already. The project is currently on hold until near the end of the Game Dev contest, since that's keeping me busy. ![]() _____________________

Get SciTE-ez here. It may take a couple minutes to set up how you like it, but it's what I use, and it's great.

Code Genie rocks too, love having those colors in my offline editor. I can code LSL at work and then just copy/paste to my scripts in game when done and bug check there. Now if we could just get an offline compiler

However, in the near future, SL will be able to use several different languages at the same time Does this mean that the library API will also be converted to several different languages? I find that hard to see happening... what am I missing? /esc _____________________

My interest is how they implement Mono, specificly how it hooks into the world and interacts with it. The language and compilers may be standard but I suspect some custom libraries/headers/classes will need to be writen for each language to connect the low level aspects of the language to the higherlevel aspects.
Anyway I don't expect Mono till 1.8 or 2.0 _____________________

Hmm, I'll bet I could set up ObjectEdit to work with this (Stardock WindowsBlinds subscription includes this but I think it's free anyway).
Yes, I mainly would like to be able to edit and test scripts off the SL server, although scripting while hanging out on a money chair is pretty fun too. And my connection can usually easily tollerate it but say I wanted Azureus running, then we've got bottlenecks. |
