Hello! I'm curious whether a certain object I have in mind would be possible to script. I'm a complete novice when it comes to scripting, so I thought I'd ask here. What I'd like to make is an object that will have a list of names-- people who are allowed to be in a certain private area. If the object detects anyone whose name isn't on that list, it says something-- some sort of set message. It wouldn't do anything to them, just say the message. Is it possible to script something like this? I don't want to make any kind of obnoxious security thing with it, more of a joke item to amuse friends. Can it be done? Thanks!

Yes, what you are looking for is easily possible.
For detection of avatars, you'll want to look at:
llVolumeDetect(); (preferred)
and
llSensorRepeat(); (sometimes necessary)
For filtering a list:
llListFindList();
For saying a message:
llWhisper(); llSay(); llShout(); llInstantMessage();

Awesome, thanks! I'll do some searching for those.
