Buy Price Bug?

Since no one really answered the question the first time I thought I would try once more. I have a ticket object I want to rez from a parent object. I put the ticket object in the parent object and set its Buy Price to $0. When the ticket object is rezzed from the parent object it comes out with a Buy Price of $10 instead of $0. The ticket object has to be rezzed by the parent object so that it can be initialized. I have pictures of this at:

and

Could someone tell me how to keep the buy price after objects are rezzed from another?
Best Regards,
Mike

Just An Aside

I'm pretty sure Alberto Linden helped Ancient Shriner get around this limitation in Ancient's lottery machine. I can't swear to that of course but it is kind of suspicious ;-). I could of course be totally, horribly wrong and if I am I apologize ;-):

1000 L$ To The First Person Who Can Show Me How To Do This

Since no one seems interested in helping me with this, how about a cash incentive. If you can show me a working solution that satisfies me I will give you 1000 L$.

The following is currently impossible:

Suppose I have a hat vendor which displays a hat object. The hat is set to sale/original for anything other than L$10. A buyer purchases the hat, and is presented with an option to wear the hat via attach permission pop-up. The buyer clicks ok, and the hat is worn. (So far so good). Next, the vendor rezzes a fresh hat, set to sell the original at any price other than L$10.

This is impossible because there is no way to get the newly rezzed hat to a 'Buy' price other than L$10. Is this a bug, or a feature?

In other words, is there currently no method for an object to transfer ownership (at a price other than L$10) and be worn, without having to go into inventory first (then manually worn by the customer)? It'd be nice to buy an object and wear it, without digging through inventory to find it first.

Two roadblocks currently prevent this. First, you can't attach an object to your av which you don't own. That's fine and understandable. Second, there's no way to set the "Buy" price. And without a way to set the 'Buy' price, you're stuck at L$10, which is unfortunate if your item is priced higher than L$10. And the best you can do with a freebie item is to have the customer pay L$10, then let the vendor detect the transaction so it can refund the L$10.

As far as I've been able to tell, there's no good way to sell anything in bulk without going through the buyer's inventory.

And, frankly, if someone came up with a way to buy an object without taking it into inventory, I'd be leary of using it. People are just too used to buying stuff as copies or through vendors.

You can't change the price to sell at different prices, but you CAN stop them being bought until they're ready.

As soon as they're rezzed, link them to the initialiser. The sale price of a linked object is determined by that of the root prim, so as long as the initialiser isn't for sale, the ticket won't be either.

Once the ticket is initialised, BreakLink and, hey presto, it's for sale.

Well my concern is not really about buying/selling. It's about ease of use. The buying and sell price issue is just a workaround which requires another workaround.

Another example:
I want to allow you to drive my vehicle which uses a HUD to display cool stuff such as speed and whatnot. In order to use the HUD, you must be given a copy through your inventory and then wear it. I would rather have the ability to give an object directly to your avatar's HUD (with a permissions popup), and bypass the inventory search and wear step.

Or, I have a game where you buy a playing card which needs to be attached to your avatar. Currently, you have to buy the card, accept it to inventory, then wear it.

I guess this should be in feature requests now, but I'm hoping that the built-in ability to preset a price (right-click an object in inventory/contents and choose properties) is something that will function as expected in a future release... rather than revert the price to L$10 (the other preset info is retained, which is why this could be a bug). The object will remember that it is for sale, and will remember whether is is to sell as original or as a copy - it only forgets the price.

Rez from Inv gets wrong$value

I too discovered this bug a while back. Makes my train track layer less than popular when customers have to buy *EACH* track piece for $10L rather tthan the 0L it is supposed to be set to.
I posted it as a bug, and got the usual autoreply. Then nothing. That was at least 2 updates back.

BUG not fixed. Now theres a new preview out. Bug STILL not fixed. In fact theres even more old bugs showing up and they are STILL adding new stuff!

Philip! How about getting your staff to do what you said - concentarte on fixing the bugs *BEFORE* adding new stuff!
