multiple particle emitters in a script

I've been learning myself plenty at the Particle Labs, but LSL language is
still daunting for me. I'm trying to set up a prim that executes several
particle systems at once: an explosion AND a beam, for example, in one
script, and i cannot seem to find an example of this in any tutorial.

Is there any examples of how this works? Ideally something i could use to
plug in my own alterations, and get me started- i'm having fun altering
already-made scripts, but still battling basic things like brackets....

Particle effects are properties of prims.
One active effect per prim at any given time.

If you need multiple effects you need to put them each in its own prim and then link them together.
