I'm fairly new to second life, and was hoping some of you more vetaran scripters could give me some advice =D

Someone offered to pay me to script a slide show for them, and seeing as I was looking for projects anways, I heartily agreed. Now I'm almost done (put about six hours into it so far) and as delivery time is drawing near, she's asking me to set a price...and I have no idea what is fair. I'm thinking I should base it somehow on the time I put into it, and what permissions she's asking for...but I really have no clue. Anyone with more experience scripting for L$ have some words of advice?

ps. whoever started that LSL wiki is my new best friend =D

My recommendation is to set it to no-copy/no-mod and give it to her. You gained an education in the process, if it is valued by her, it will start to establish you as a pro scripter. You may even get requests from others to purchase it. You will have made someone happy and it was something you wanted to do anyway.

This is how I started, but never wound up charging for scripts because I just didn't need L$ above my stipend. Just because something has no price does not mean it has no value. Establishing a reputation as a competent and generous scripter in SL will probably ultimately gain you more than any fee you might reasonably charge.

It was spearheaded by Catherine Omega with significant contributions from Ezhar Fairlight, Trimming Hedges, Christopher Omega, Wednesday Grimm and others who deserve all the thanks we can throw at them.

(My apologies for omitting anyone as I could not find a page of contributors on the LSL Wiki that I thought used to be there.)

Hi Kelvin,

This is one of the fundamental problems that scripters (and all other content-creators in SL) have faced.

One way to go about determining a price (for standard-ish retail items) is to look at similar products and set your prices in line.

In this particular case, there are a few similar examples around. Most of them have gone for free or near free.

I think Cienna Rand and Pete Fats have ones that they give away, and Ezhar Fairlight has a neat one that he sells for L$80 I think, essentially giving it away. (Correct me if I'm wrong anywhere)
