Hoi hoi, I'm trying to develop a script, but I don't think it is going to work the way I want. I'll give you a simple example and you can tell me if it can be done or not lol cause I've tried a few ways. Here is what I am trying to do: Prim A - has a notecard in its contents called Notecard1 Prim B - has script in it I want Prim B to be able to read line(s) from Prim A's notecard (perhaps by using Prim A's key as a locator?) Can this be done? or am I screwed lol Thanks in advance for any ideas you might have ~ CK

llGetNotecardLine() will accept a key instead of a name, so if Prim A has a script in it, or has a remote access pin set, you can have it pass the notecard's key to Prim B.

Prim A would have to read the notecard and then send it over communication routes (most probally chat) prim b could take that info and then use or relay it
you could use the notecard's key from what i understand, altho this is mostly useless becuase every time you save a notecard it gets a new key, probally when the item is rezed too

You can use this script, but instead of string gName = "Testnotecard" use string gName = "keygoeshere". You can use llGetInventoryKey(llGetInventoryName(INVENTORY_NOTECARD, 0)) in the prim with the notecard to get the key.

So you were right lol... because the object AND the notecard get new UUID's everytime they are rezzed or changed... my whole plan falls to shambles rofl... I'll have to think of a way to get one prim to communicate information from a notecard to another prim... using another method hehe. Thank you for the responses though helped to get me thinking outside the box heeh ~ CK
