Hello, I need a very fine colored lines like the lines in the edit modus. I have a particle beam that looks like a laser but i need it more accurate and fine. The line need to be seen over long distance up to 100 meters maybe full region would be best.

I think particle would be the best choice. But if i remember correctly particle it's client side, i.e. the "accuracy and finess" depends on the SL user's computer to perform differently. Plus there're a 4096 limited numbers on the particles to appear at the same time.

Alternatively, you could rez a temporary phantom long cylinder to be the laser beam. It would be a good solid looking beam but the down side is you need to do some calculations on the rezzing to keep up beam-to-beam situation.

I cant make the particles work very fine over a long distance. I could manage to make them max 30-35 meters, then the laser starts to fade out. I would like to have a fine thin line up to 150 meters.

Megaprims aren't useful for my idea here - I also thought about this idea

Maybe its just a setting inside the particle script but i cant figure out the right settings

Yeah, I played with different versions of a laser pointer for a while and gave it up as a bad game. As the OP notes, there's no way to narrow a particle beam so it doesn't look like a death ray. Also, I could never work out a satisfactory aiming system unless I was beaming between predetermined points -- not much good for a "Look over THERE!" type of pointer that you need for spontaneous, unplanned pointing.

You can go the route of using a long, skinny prim but aiming that sort of pointer is an even more daunting challenge. Megaprims are out of the question since you can't resize them. You'd need a different megaprim every time you pointed at something at a different distance. Frankly, I can't think of a solution that would satisfy me.

I'd just use the script API from my client to do raycasting. But to collaborate with others better I prefer to use the 'Show Look At' debug setting with my pink cross to show others points of interest more quickly.
