Dear all,
I am a little fed up with all the magic-enabled griefers who run around with god-like powers and can put me in cages, push me about and generally cast spells on me while I am on SL. It seems protection from physical attack is rather simple but protection from magical scripting is rather hard.
Does anyone know, is it possible to make a script that I can use for protection that will effectively put a griefer in a "no script zone" bubble so that none of their scripts will run? I have looked for clues about how this might be done but have not had much luck. I figure that stopping a griefer from scripting is easier than trying to stop their scripts from running on me.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Klara

nope. Not unless you own the land. Some advice.. - sit on a prim of some kind (prefferably your own). Sitting on a prim will "add your agent to the linkset".. and your avatar essentially "becomes part of the chair". The first project any builder should make, is a cool chair. Sitting down is the #1 way to protect yourself agains nearly any form of attack. Sitting on a prim is best, and if you sit on a prim you own, you can be sure there's no hidden scripts in there.
- mute. Muting a person will silence their gestures, silence their sounds, make you unable to see their particles, will autodecline inventory offers, teleport requests, and nearly EVERy form of communication. it will silence their voice chat AND will silence the green text from their objects as well.
- go someplace else... seriously, why stay?
- Build on a sky platform if you MUST use this sandbox
- build above 300m. (a lot of noob griefers don't have flight assists.)
and most importantly
- Don't shoot back. Really, forget any hopes of buying a magic defensive system that will "get revenge" on those attacking you. Because the sad fact is, Griefers WANT you to shoot them back. They WANT you to react and get upset. If you shoot them, they havd a hundred friends who will all gang up and Abuse Report you.. and you'll get YOUR account suspended from Second Life faster than you'd beleive. The Lindens won't know who shot first, and they don't care. Shooting back is still shooting. The moment you shoot back, you become no better than them.
Really, the irony is.. the A#1 best strategy to handle griefers, is the same strategy mom always told you when you were in school. Just sit down and ignore them, or walk away.

In addition to Winter's recomends there is a non physics vehicle available for free at the Ivory Tower. You should be able to find it in the search for places. I also have a landmark giver at my store for the Ivory Tower. I don't recall who created the scripts for it, but it has been posted here too. Also look in the script library for Anti-Grief Script by Siro Mfume. ( /15/f1/25172/1.html) I've been using it or a variation of it for a while now. The linked one has a flight assist built in and this uses a move lock method to help keep you from being pushed. It won't work on the really strong push weapons or how most of the current ones that rez and object around you and use it to move you around. BTW, if you use that script be sure and turn it off when you are a passenger in a friend's vehicle, you will keep it from moving. Found that out the hard way. Those should help if you want to try some nice free scripted items.

I wrote a quick script to be placed in an attachment which does nothing to keep you anywhere, but detects where you were before you were pushed or whatever, and gives you the option to simply TP back. http://ordinalmalaprop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Script:Push_alert

Moin Winter Ventura, From: Winter Ventura The first project any builder should make, is a cool chair. Sitting down is the #1 way to protect yourself agains nearly any form of attack. the first script I extracted from a prim and placed in a prim was Terras Magic Carpet. I've placed it in a Tatami, added a warp teleporter, animations, a builders buddy like rezzer, and lots of other gimmiks. I can not think about being in a sandbox without my Tatami and completely support your statement. ciao,Kephra
